Michael Hackett

got involved with yarraReporter in August 2009 and has since discovered that education is vital in empowering people with disadvantaged backgrounds. He really enjoys the visual side of storytelling and news reporting. His interests lie in issues that affect the local community, especially from people that have mental health issues.

Rachael Akibib came to Australia 13 years ago from Nauru and is the oldest of 14. She enjoys life, but also likes to complain a lot about it and tends to over analyse. yarraReporter has given her a fun and educational experience coming from a coconut island.

Shirley Danford moved to Australia from Fiji in 1984. She has always loved writing short stories and is interested in learning about how to write in different styles and contexts. Loves to read, particularly biographies. Her kids are her life.
Shelley Thompson trained with yarraReporter last August and is now working frequently to fine-tune her research and journalism skills. She is a passionate member of the Collingwood community and is determined to unearth underlying issues that are going on in her local community.
